SpecCeramics is working to become a more sustainable company in 2010. Our goal is to be the leading resource for innovative, environmentally responsible, and high performance engineered stone and tile.; It is true that we have been on this journey for over 20 years by making the choice to represent the highest quality engineered stone products rather than natural stone. However, going above and beyond our current efforts by involving other aspects of our business is taking our commitment to the next level.

We happen to have the ONLY ceramic tile product that is extracted and manufactured in Southern California, which will contribute to additional LEED credits depending on project location. Our Environments Collection contains 70% recycled content, is available in unique sizes, and can be custom colored for only 500sf.

There is a revolution happening in porcelain tile and our partner manufacturers happen to be on the cutting edge with ultra thin porcelain veneer tiles. Thin is in with tiles that use less material, less resources, less energy, and go right over existing floors and walls without demolition.

And finally, who doesn’t want to support products that are “Made in the USA” Cutting down on our manufacturing and transportation emissions is crucial to the health of our planet. In addition, these products are all available within a quick ship time frame.

The process of upgrading our SpecCeramics websites led us to a web hosting service called Green Geeks. As a company, some of their environmental initiatives include; purchasing wind energy credits from the EPA to offset their consumption from the grid, rigorous office recycling efforts, and telecommuting by many employees. “It is essential that the web hosting industry start moving toward being more eco friendly. It is estimated that by 2020 if we do not work to make this industry greener, it will be as big of a polluter as the airline industry.” Trey Gardner, CEO, GreenGeeks. A few other efforts we are making include printing all company literature, business cards, and marketing materials on 100% post consumer recycled paper using soy inks. We have implemented recycling in all of our showroom locations. We are utilizing auto-sensor lighting controls, filtering tap water for drinking, and using environmentally safe, non-toxic cleaning supplies. Even the owner of our company drives a hybrid vehicle!
